Course Description

Developing Our Team is a process for examining the dynamics of any interdependent work group, with the aim of improving communication, mutual understanding and respect, problem-solving, conflict resolution and team goal-setting and action-planning skills.

Target Audience

Department colleagues, special project groups, joint venture teams, or any other professional work group wanting to assure their success as a team.


Objectives

Participants will:


     •  increase the degree of mutual understanding, respect and trust between the members

          of the team

     •  establish a "creative climate" where members feel free to share information and

          express their opinions (even strong, differing ones) openly between themselves in

          order to make higher quality team decisions

     •  agree their team's rules of engagement and conflict resolution

     •  promote a climate of mutual trust, effectiveness and team harmony

     •  appreciate the contributions each individual makes to the achievement of the team's

          objective(s)

     •  develop thematic, constituent and operational goals and action plans to accomplish

          team and organizational objectives more effectively

     •  establish metrics to measure team results and development

     •  commit themselves to team agreements


Method

A combination of pre-course interviews, assessments and questionnaires, individual and team exercises and workshops, the sessions are very participative and action-oriented.  


Duration of the session:  2 days (+ 1 day follow-up)

Pre-course preparation:  Interviews, Pre-course questionnaires

Number of participants:  Teams of up to 10 people

Working languages:  English or French
